How to Make a Change in Your Life

Spread the love

At one point or another in life, you feel you need to make a change that will either draw you closer to achieving your dreams or becoming that version of yourself you want.

We have seen people make changes in their life that we want to see replicated in our lives, but it seems easier said than done. Changing certain aspects of our lives can be challenging, but it is possible.

How do you make a change in your life when it seems complicated? This article will share some insights on how to do that.

1 Make the decision

The first step towards changing your life is deciding to do just that. Making a decision and working towards it becomes easier because you already have the mindset that you want to make a change in your life.

The changes could be in your career, relationships, letting go of some friendships, making major life adjustments, going after what you love, etc.

All these things are impossible when you don’t first decide to make a change that will welcome them into your life.

2 Know why you want to make the changes

Knowing your why helps you get started on what you want to do because your why acts like a propeller that keeps you moving forward towards what you want.

Before you change your life, you need to know why you want to make those changes. The why will act as a force to keep you going even when you want to give up.

3 Be aware that there could be setbacks

Finding out why you want to change your life and get started on it can be exciting to the extent that we sometimes forget that there could be setbacks toward making that change.

When you commit to making a change in your life, you are essentially trying to step out of your comfort zone, you want to do things you haven’t done before, or you want to improve on what you are already doing.

Knowing that you may slip into setbacks like doing what you committed and what you decided not to do in the course of making a change will help you prepare yourself for it.

4 Have a support group

You could have accountability, a friend or family who will guide you, keep you accountable, motivate you, and remind you that you can make those changes even if you slip or when you think you are unable to.

Alternatively, you can go online and search for groups that have people ready to make the same changes you want to. In this situation, you all encourage and motivate each other.

Making life changes can be scary, and sometimes your family or friends may not give you the support you need at the moment. They may even tell you that making those changes is impossible for you.

Most of them are just projecting their fears that you may not be able to make that change in your life, and you will end up feeling disappointing. So, don’t hate them for that.

5 Take it one step at a time

The changes you seek may not come immediately as you want them to. You have to make these changes one step at a time.

Also, don’t decide to make a lot of changes at once because you may feel burnt out or tired trying to make all these changes.

Focus on one area at a time. Set reasonable and smart goals that will help you work towards those goals. Make minor adjustments daily, and soon you can make all the desired changes.

6 Celebrate the small changes

To feel confident about making those small changes, learn to celebrate the small changes you have made because it will make it easier to make the big ones.

Did you stay one week sober? Acknowledge and appreciate your effort.

Were you able to cut down on your social media time and focus on other things? Be thankful for the effort.

Did you commit more time to the relationship? Acknowledge it.

Appreciating the efforts you have made and acknowledging them makes you happy, and it is sometimes the only motivation you need to do more and go all the way

7 Use affirmations

I don’t know about you, but I love using affirmations, and more people have acknowledged that using affirmations makes it easier to make a change in their life.

These affirmations should be positive things you want and need to hear. You don’t need to wait for people to tell you to don’t.

I can start that job.

I can exercise.

I can stay sober.

I am focusing on other things in life.

Affirmations like these do wonders to you and your life, and they will surely remind you that you can do all that you are supposed to and want to do.

8 Believe

This is the last point I will be mentioning. It would help if you believed in making changes in your life. You must believe in God and yourself. It is impossible to change your life when you think it is impossible.

Conquerors, believing, make changes seem accessible and easy to do. It makes you have this unwavering solid faith that if others could make such changes, so can you.

Doubting your ability to make the necessary adjustments makes it impossible to do what you want to because your mindset is already negative.

You can’t attract what you don’t believe, and you can’t be what you think you can’t. So, work on that negative mindset and go ahead to make a change in your life.

Conclusion

Conquerors, I am here to tell you that all the changes you need to make are easy and accessible to you if you put in the work and follow the steps shared here.

I am here, constantly cheering you on. Suppose you want an accountability partner or need someone to talk to and reach out to I’ll be waiting to hear from you.
